Juliana Cazzaniga. Fourth year medical student at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.

I have a passion for art and diagnostic radiology.”

I graduated from the Honors College at Florida International University (FIU) with a major in Biological Sciences. I lead the AAR AHR subgroup on Arts Education, focusing on developing an Art in Radiology curriculum, identifying educational resources, and spearheading outreach efforts to medical students, radiology residents, program directors, and educators. For RSNA 2024, I collaborated on the session “Engaging the Radiologist Through Artistic Expression”, which explored how the arts can enhance radiology education. I work alongside AAR members who share an interest in the intersection of art and medicine, much like my own artwork, which has been accepted by the Eloquor Journal of the Medical Humanities Club at FIU. By integrating artistic and humanistic perspectives into our discussions and practices, we create a richer learning environment and inspire innovative approaches to radiology.

My background in both medicine and the arts reflects a unique perspective that enriches my approach to medical education and patient care. Throughout my medical school career, I have been deeply engaged in research, leadership, and advocacy. My passion for innovation and interdisciplinary learning has driven my involvement in projects that explore how different fields can enhance medical training and practice.

My love for the arts has played a significant role in shaping my perspective on medicine, especially in radiology. As the leader of the AAR AHR subgroup on Arts Education, I focus on developing curricula that integrate artistic and humanistic perspectives into medical education. I am always eager to connect with fellow physicians, educators, and researchers who share an interest in the intersection of medicine, education, and the arts. By collaborating with others who are passionate about innovation in medical training, I hope to continue exploring new ways to enhance learning, foster creativity, and improve patient care. I welcome opportunities to exchange ideas and work together on initiatives that bridge the gap between art and medicine.

I hope to connect with others!

In a dark canvas of a mind, a CT unfurls, Colors dance where neurons swirl.
Electric hues, a vibrant stream,
In the gray, a bright flower gleams.
A blossom of thoughts in circuits embrace, A spectrum of insight, a visual grace.
Art of the brain, where visions align,
In a tapestry where colors entwine.

Multiple brain mysteries unfold, CT slices in multiple colors bold.
Neon veins trace thoughts so clear,
In vibrant moments, the mind appears. Electric hues in shadows play, Mapping dreams in a vivid way.
Contours of cognition brightly gleam, A spectrum of the mind’s deep dream
