Wishbone Shape of the Adrenal Gland
In general the adrenal glands are triangular in shape and are reminiscent of the shape of the “wishbone” or the breast bone of the chicken.

Normal and Cirrhotic Liver
The CT scan on the left shows a normal sized liver in the context of a romantic evening with a couple sharing a beer at sunset by the sea .

Nuclear-Cytoplasmic Ratio
The normal (upper) and the abnormally large nucleus (lower)
Two histological sections above show a normal nuclear cytoplasmic ratio of some liver cells in the upper panel and cells with an increased nuclear cytoplasmic ratio on the lower panel indicating malignant change. The experienced eye and mind of the pathologist develops a geshtalt of what the normal ratio. This is a difficult measurement to make objectively.

Pear Shaped Female
This CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis showed a floral pattern on both sides of the abdomen. The pattern is likely reflective of a pattern on the patients garment, and is made from dense material that probably has a metallic base. Volume rendering of the image accentuates the emblem.  Note the characteristic pear shape of female body

 74 year old female with bicornuate uterus and dilated endometrial cavities Diagnosis is carcinoma of the cervix with obstruction . The myometrium is overlaid in dark pink, and the endometrial cavity is a heterogeneous orange consisting of both fluid and soft tissue elements.

Serpiginous Splenic Artery – Da Vinci
This is a drawing of the “meseraic vessels” – presumably the celiac axis. Da Vinci was able to interview and perform an autopsy on a centenarian. He describes the dessicated and tortuos state of the vessels of this patient accurately depicting the atherosclerotic process. He describes the narrowed lumen and the consequences of poor blood flow.The translation of da Vinci’s text accompanying this one inch image is remarkably insightful and pioneering.
