2. Findings and Diagnosis


 

Consolidation Silhouetting of the Lingula 

Chest X-ray of a 52  year old female with a 3 day history of cough and fever shows consolidation in the left mid-lung zone, obscuring the left heart border, (silhouette sign), and visualisation of the left hemidiaphgram consistent with lingular involvement. Air bronchograms are probably present.  The findings suggest pneumonia in the setting of cough and fever.
